Dr. Strauss is Director of the Life Expectancy Project, and Emeritus Professor of Statistics, University of California. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Primary areas of research:

  1. Life expectancy of persons with developmental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy (CP), autism, and Down syndrome.
  2. Life expectancy of persons who suffered anoxic, hypoxic, traumatic brain (TBI), or spinal cord (SCI) injuries.
  3. Life expectancy of persons with various medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
  4. Comparative mortality of persons with developmental disabilities in institutions and in the community: Placement.
